What is TriActive Technology?

Kurt Biomedical's air purification systems are based on three technologies: filtration/absorption, ultraviolet and photocatalysis, called Tri-Active technology. These are environmentally friendly processes that work without the use of chemicals or gases.

Our products are also equipped with a pre-filter to trap dust and other particles in the air. After the air passes through the pre-filter, it passes through the activated carbon filtering system. Activated carbon is known for its ability to adsorb volatile organic compounds or VOCs. VOCs are air-soluble molecules that are very harmful pollutants to indoor air; including odors, chemical compounds and all kinds of harmful gases. Activated carbon adsorbs up to 10% of its mass in pollutants: therefore it contains pollution peaks.

Air treatment by photocatalysis combines UVc radiation with a photocatalyst: TiO. TiO 2 has many advantages such as efficiency, non-toxicity, stability and low cost. Activation of TiO by UVc leads to the formation of radicals that allow the degradation of a wide variety of pollutants, particularly Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC). VOCs are direct pollutants for humans and plants. By choosing TriActive technology with photocatalysis, you contribute to the creation of healthy air without using chemicals. The figure below summarizes all the reactions that occur on the surface of a semiconductor TiO2 , under the influence of sufficient UV radiation.

What types of pollution does
TriActive target?

Tri-Active is a state of the art technology, very effective against viruses, bacteria, molds, chemical pollution, in particular gaseous pollutants also called VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds). VOCs can occur naturally, but most often they are anthropogenic. These are gases resulting from industrial activities (organic solvents, cleaning agents, synthetic agents, etc.). Sprays, cleaning products and cosmetics, paints and solvents are the main culprits.

The most notable VOCs removed by photocatalysis include nitrogen oxide, CO2 and CO, formaldehyde, ethanol, butane, toluene, benzene and acetone.

Many scientific studies have been published in recent years suggesting the significant effectiveness of photocatalysis against bacteria and viruses, especially COVID-19 and influenza virus.

Where can I use TriActive?

Everyone deserves to breathe clean, healthy air free of germs and bacteria.

We can allow everyone to breathe quality air, Tri-Active technology was designed for this.

It can be used in offices, factories, schools, government buildings, libraries, theaters, hospitals, laboratories, gymnasiums, stores, restaurants, nursing homes, bars, entertainment venues. events, hotels, supermarkets, etc. health.

Medical equipment

air purification by photocatalysis

In medical practices and treatment rooms, surface disinfection can be supplemented by air purification. Indeed, many patients circulate within the premises and can thus  generate contamination  via the air they exhale. The purification of the air thus makes it possible to cut down the viruses, bacteria which are not eliminated during the ventilation of the room and thus to secure these spaces. Within the laboratories, the purification of the air makes it possible to maintain a bacteriological level as low as possible.

Our air purifiers kill VOCs, viruses (including coronavirus), bacteria and mould. Thanks to photocatalysis, they are compatible with the presence of individuals: it is therefore not necessary to quarantine spaces (as is the case with ozone for example) which represents a significant time saving between the passage of two patients. Our devices act in addition to the hygiene measures in force in the various sectors.
